For the Petite Sirah, we sourced grapes from one of the oldest and most respected
vineyards in Napa Valley. Originally planted in the 19th century, these particular vines
are nearly 90 years old, producing the fruit of wonderful concentration and balance. The
2018 vintage was the best we have seen in nearly twenty years. With a perfect growing
season and temperate fall, we were able to pick when the fruit, tannin, acid, and sugars
were perfect. The grapes came into the winery where they were fully destemmed and
allowed to ferment for 22 days in a tank. When the fermentation was complete, we gently
pressed the grapes and filled our French oak barrels, some new, some older. The wine was
then given extended aging with very little intervention. After forty months we racked
the wine off any sediment and bottled it without filtration.
Cheers from Kubani wines!
